Technology has changed the role and expectations of the modern marketing director. Issuing press releases and maintaining a company website no longer suffice. Which is why my vast experience has prepared me for a modern leadership role where critical thinking, project management, analytical skills and technical skills are essential qualifications for success.
Critical Thinking Skills
Highly developed ability to quickly analyze situations and determine an effective course of action. Optum behavioral experienced a goal-shattering 40% jump in online provider portal usage after I crafted a campaign strategy based on portal usage being a more reliable method for on-time claim payments.
Project Management Skills
As team lead, I combine critical thinking with a focused sense of goal accomplishment to achieve business objectives. Motivating a team of fourteen, I led the Achievements in Clinical Excellence (ACE) marketing effort for Optum Behavioral. The ACE program has generated approximately 8 million in savings.
The most powerful marketing always reveals some small insight that taps into human nature and makes an immediate and influential connection with the customer. As a young copywriter, I wrote an ad for a bathtub whirlpool that saw over 80,000 units sold during a single three-day weekend.
I offer an extremely wide-ranging skillset that is indicative of my curiosity and willingness to learn new things. I am advanced-to-expert in the following: Photoshop, Indesign, After Effects, Premier, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Brainshark, Adobe AEM, WordPress, HTML/CSS. Windows or Mac environment.
I currently run online direct marketing campaigns (targeted to providers) for Optum Behavioral via SubscriberMail. In addition to creating the content, graphics, HTML and filtered mailing lists, I also analyze results and click-throughs to determine which subject headers or message strategies are most effective.
Relationship Building Skills
Able to articulate information clearly and with enthusiasm across all levels and channels, while also engendering trust and confidence. This has been a key attribute as I have successfully recruited over fifty provider facilities within Optum’s Behavioral Health network to onboard them as part of the ACE program marketing.
MY WORK CREATES REVENUE
I have a proven ability to foster and maintain strong relationships with key business partners, both internally and externally. As a leader and team-builder, I am able to work with employees at all levels of the organization. By building collaborative relationships with subordinates and outside vendors, I have been able to effectively and efficiently achieve corporate, financial and market objectives. Finally, I have a solid foundation of experience in the areas of health care, technology, digital marketing, consumer products and B2B.
UnitedHealth Group, Phoenix, Arizona | Senior Communications Specialist | September 2013 to Present
My role is developing communications that tie critical change management efforts to overall Optum business strategies, vision and direction. For example, I was solely responsible for the marketing development, branding and execution of Optum’s Achievements in Clinical Excellence (ACE) program. The objective was to increase corporate savings by encouraging referral sources to send Optum members to our lower cost, better-performing inpatient treatment facilities. After 15 months, the ACE program is on track to save Optum an estimated 8 million dollars as a direct result of these strategic and tactical communications initiatives.
